Buhari has stated that those who sabotaged Nigeria's progress with misappropriation of funds in Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation during the past government will soon be brought to book, though he didnt say when the trial will begin Or those qho will b prosecuted.
This was gathered when PMB met with President Xi of China at the UN 70th General Assembly
He reaffirmed his dedication to stop corruption in the oil sector and has started making moves with the team led by Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu, which will restructure the workings of the corporation.
“The prosecution of those who misappropriated the NNPC’s revenue under past administrations will soon commence,” he simply said without giving further details.
Buhari spoke about the progress made in breaking the arm of terrorist group Boko Haram and also thanked the Chinese president for helping in the area of curbing oil theft and asked for their continued support.
Inturn Xi Jinping spoke of the two countries bilateral relationship and their present work in different sectors in the Nigerian economy, including the Electricity sector with the Mambilla Hydro-Power Project at hand.
Mr. Jinping promised a continued partnership all areas, including oil and gas and human capital development.
