A female former porn addict has revealed the devastating effect her obsession had on her life in a bid to help others.
Jessie Maegan, 29, from Totnes, Devon, developed her fixation after her ex-boyfriend suggested they introduce porn into their bedroom repertoire, but after he left her, she was watching it for up to eight hours a night alone.
The former secretary, who even logged into sex sites on her phone during work breaks, told The Sun: 'I wasn't eating properly and I had no friends. The turning point came when I was sacked for falling asleep at my desk.
Jessie, who has since weaned herself off porn completely, said it all started when her boyfriend persuaded her to watch it with him to 'rev up' their sex life.
Initially she was uncomfortable and reluctant to try it, but she quickly changed her mind and gave it a go.
'It was really exciting and definitely did the trick,' she told the newspaper. 'I felt like a naughty schoolgirl. We had sex several times that night and I can honestly say it was the best sex I'd ever had.'
Over the space of four months, the couple's porn-watching sessions went from being a weekend indulgence to a nightly fix.
At work, Jessie recalls 'counting down the minutes' until the end of her shifts when she could rush home and log back into porn sites.
Unsurprisingly, she says she was constantly 'exhausted' during the day and surviving off just a few hours sleep at night.
Her boyfriend's job was suffering too - so much so that he told Jessie he needed time apart from her in order to get his career back on track.
She was then left broken-hearted when he then announced he had met someone else and declared their relationship over for good.
It was at this point that Jessie's addiction reached its crescendo.
Having exhausted the thousands of free videos on sites including Pornhub and RedTube, she moved on to content hidden behind pay-walls.
'I moved on to group stuff with S&M, and the more I saw, the more I wanted - the edgier the better,' she said.
